South Asian Media

South Asians are a highly affluent, well-educated and consumer-oriented population. According to the US Census Bureau, sixty-four percent have a bachelor’s degree or higher, and one in 10 Indian Americans is a millionaire.

The median household income of South Asians is more than $64,000 (higher than any other ethnic/race groups and 50 percent higher than the national average). The South Asian consumer spends double the money on cable and satellite television as the average US consumer, yet this tech-savvy group has a strong online presence. Though they are well acculturated, the majority of South Asian Americans stay connected with their cultural heritage through media and language.
